Request a State Checkoff Refund

Checkoff payments are mandatory, but in many states a refund from the state-level checkoff program is available. Each state has its own regulations and process. Below is state checkoff refund information we have been able to gather, but please note that it is not necessarily a complete list. If your checkoff program is not listed below, we suggest calling the commodity checkoff office in your state and asking if they offer refunds and how to obtain one.

Note: A producer who has paid an assessment to the mandatory Iowa State Beef Checkoff may obtain a refund of the amount paid by filing an application for refund with the Iowa Beef Industry Council within 90 days after the sale of cattle. The application must be in writing, on a form provided by the Iowa Beef Industry Council for that purpose, and accompanied by proof of payment of the assessment.

Note: A grower must request an individually-numbered refund voucher from the Kansas Corn Commission. Voucher requests can be made in writing, online or by phone. The commission staff will assign a number to each voucher and send it to the grower who is requesting the refund. The voucher cannot be copied. The voucher is a two-part form that is filled out by the grower and the first purchaser of the corn. To request a form by phone, call the KCC office at 785-410-5009. To request a voucher online, fill out and submit the form on the website.
