They're trying it in Wisconsin too, with cows, goats, mink. There is some local resistance -- often more a matter of habit than current law-- but the people with political power see which way the winds is blowing. They can see that the local, sensible, traditional zoning habits are sound, but the centralized Republican government wants to sell to the highest bidder and biggest donor. I don't think, though, that in America a neighbor can take your property value, and invade your property with pollutants and stench, without compensating you. And if your government permits it, I think you have a cause of action for inverse condemnation to make them pay. It's just we are the decent kind of people -- as the big guys so often aren't -- who don't like to fly off the handle and take advantage.

Agreed 100% about that Kevin. I've looked into it a little bit, and from what I have seen, nothing is in the works. When I bring it up, people say it maybe to impossible due to political reasons. There will be very little backing.
Laws need to be place BEFORE Iowa is destroyed not after. If anyone knows or has heard of such movement taking place please contact me, I will certainly do my best to bring it some light.
Great article Mr. Peterson.

We need a moratorium. If it has a manure pit it must be permitted by the state after approval by local authorities. Appeals to the EPC to stop permitting should be done by representation. Corporate AG only has those will profit from it as the only ones supporting it. Rules should not have "industry reps" at the tables. Protect the environment, not corporate AG! Excellent article and thank you for writing this.
