January 12, 2017: Taking It Back Tour: Alabama

Share

Join us January 12th in Boaz, AL

If we are going to take on the world’s largest corporations, all independent farmers and ranchers must be organized and speaking as one voice. Join us to say “enough is enough.”

WHAT: With this year’s calf prices dropping to about half of what they were a year ago and putting Alabama cattle producers’ viability in question, cattle producers will learn of actions to take to win back a free and just market to regain a fair share of the retail beef prices. A team from the Organization for Competitive Markets will make a presentation covering the nature of the national market crisis, as well as legislation and litigation efforts for addressing the situation. A complimentary dinner buffet will be provided by the Alabama Contract Poultry Growers Association.

WHO: Featured speakers:

  • Jonathan Buttram, OCM Director, President of Alabama Contract Poultry Growers Association
  • Fred Stokes, OCM Director, retired military and cattle producer, Porterville, MS
  • Mike Callicrate, OCM Director, cattle producer and owner of Ranch Foods Direct, a direct marketing beef company, from Colorado Springs, CO
  • Joe Maxwell, OCM member, fourth generation hog farmer and former Lieutenant Governor of Missouri, from Mexico, MO
  • Mike Weaver, OCM President, President of Contract Poultry Growers Association of the Virginias, from Fort Seybert, WV
